一千個春天

無意間看到公視民歌演唱會的轉播
暌違已久的蔡琴、李建復、蘇來、靳鐵章、李壽全
還有施孝榮、潘越雲等歌手的歌聲
許多熟悉的曲子都變成倒轉的時光機
包括已故製作人梁弘志的部分作品

節目及演唱會的名稱「一千個春天」
來自蔡琴與李建復的重唱
歌詞中有這麼一段：
愛情不只是表面的美好
而且是靈魂的真實
我們兩心瞭解
然後譜成一種和諧
於是在我們的心扉
便有一千個春天

這是一首談愛情的曲子
從歌詞裡探索愛情的開端
最後這幾句算是一對戀人共識的答案
也是愛情的最高境界
只是這種境界在目前似乎越來越少見
愛情有太多種在各個時代也有不同樣貌
和諧與平衡仍是最值得追求的麼

小時候唱的美國民謠"Old Black Joe"
原來正是死神的名字
但片中卻沒有人對這刻意安排的巧合產生聯想

死神需要談戀愛嗎
除了希臘神話裡富有人性的諸神之外
沒想過其他什麼神祇有情慾的問題
（我不禁又想到Tannhäuser）
而這原本也不見得會發生
若非Joe拿的軀體
正好屬於當天跟Susan相談甚歡的男士的話

理性主義者或許認為很扯
我也同意有些牽強
但感性地喜歡這安排
也欣賞死神在劇中的某些談話

這部片中心思想算得上明確
但對話很簡潔
Joe的真實身份一直是個謎
除了Bill與病逝於醫院中的老婦外
大家都沒有答案
直到Joe最後以自己的方式告訴了Susan...
畢竟他不得不讓她明白非走不可的原因

老實說
因為這首曲子太舊
我不知道這首曲子的原唱者是誰
但它每次出現在大銀幕都予我深刻的印象
第一次是「英倫情人」（The English Patient）
第二次就是這部「第六感生死緣」（Meet Joe Black）
第三次是「綠色奇蹟」（The Green Mile）
還有沒有其他電影用過這首曲子就不清楚了
而它這三部片中的出現
又屬「綠色奇蹟」讓我最感動

片中另一首Somewhere over the rainbow
是我更鍾愛的曲子
出自「綠野仙蹤」
這部老片說了N年還沒看過
倒是在「電子情書」（You've Got Mail）
和此片又聽到它的改編版

大體上來說
這部電影的配樂有我一貫喜愛的優美旋律和古典編制
契合劇情需要而散發高貴典雅氣息
熟悉的主題旋律穿梭在各段樂曲之間
將Wagner的leitmotif（主導動機）實踐得很徹底

片尾晚宴部分
因為劇情中有煙火施放
配樂也因而濃豔華麗 高潮迭起
即使單獨聆聽都令人動容
這或許是Thomas Newman最棒的作品了
